DESCRIPTION OF MY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND CURRENT

    ACADEMIC STRUCTURE
    INTRODUCTION
READ Foundation is one of the largest not-for-profit educational networks of rural Pakistan. It started off in 1994 with a mission of serving underprivileged children through quality education.
READ began its journey with 25 children, a committed teacher and a shabby rented building. In contrast to the enormity of the goal, the financial resources were meager. But after some fifteen years READ Foundation has earned fame for offering value-based mainstream education with emphasis on character building through academic excellence.
Currently, the Foundation is running a cohesive network of 331 schools with an ever-growing student body of around 69,000 children, guided by 3,500 teachers who take pride in blending the broader concepts of tolerance, moderation, child rights, and civic education as a part of regular curriculum. READ Foundation is providing free education to more than 7,000 orphan students and It fulfills their educational needs to ensure that everybody gets an equal chance, at their door-step, of getting self-reliant through education.
    Vision
    Strengthening humanity for change.
    Mission Statement
Helping society through quality-oriented, value-based and purposeful education and capacity.

    QUALITY SEAL
READ works compliant to a set of quality markers which we call the Quality Seal. These are:
Adopted a grassroots approach to all our work. Ensuring monitoring and training in our schools to assure the quality of education. This standard has been met through the provision of 5 ‘Centres for Training and Coordination’ (CTCs) – each CTC on average catering for 75 schools, where we have a team of Education and Training Officers visiting schools and closely monitoring and auditing all aspects of school life. A special focus on girl’s education

Girls make up around 46% of the total student population in our school system.

    Focus on results
Children in READ Foundation schools have a history of excellent results; In annual examination 2008, our schoolchildren maintained their distinction of producing great results in SSC and HSSC examinations. Facilitation of employment opportunity for educated youth, on leaving our schools, in their local areas; around 3,000 youth from remote areas, especially female have been provided a decent means of livelihood in their own communities following completion of study from READ schools.READ Foundation has adopted the 'Association for Academic Quality' syllabus and lesson plans for all its schools, ensuring high quality delivery in a structured and quality managed way.

READ foundation degree college Samahni Azad Kashmir

I am teaching in READ foundation degree college samahni azad kashmir since 2007.I am working in one of the three  campuses AYESHA CAMPUS that is indeed a beautiful placeits establishment date is 1995.

    COLLEGE PRINCIPLE
My college principle name is Muhammad Siddique. He is highly qualified, competent, dedicated, cooperative and hard working individual. He has great management skills.

    STUDENTS AND CLASROOMS DESCRIPTION
My college has 1091 students, 57 teachers, 53 rooms and 36 classes.Institute surrounded by all types of families including rich, medial and poor. The studens which have strong wish to learn here but could not pay their full monthly fee institute gives them admission on fee concession bases.I have 40 students in grade 9th, 40 in 12th, 20 in 13th and 25 in 14th grades. Most of them are very intelligent and are seeking knowledge with great passion.
    CURRICULUM
We follow AFAQ syllabus in primary classes but Punjab syllabus in higher classes. For sciences there is biology, chemistry ,  physics and computer labs. For early practicle work these are enough but need more improvement.

    EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The college is committed to develop personality and character building of all its students. A broad based and divers program is part of the character building and personality development of our students.

NEEDS OF MY INSTITUTION I am working in READ foundation Degree College Samahni Azad Jammu and Kashmir. READ foundation is paying full attention towards the basic needs of students, institutes, and even for community also. But as we all know nothing is perfect in this world everything needs to be improved so I also have some blanks in my institute that need to be filled.

My institute has 1096 students its indeed a big number that’s why it is divided into three campuses, two of them have their own buildings  but for one (boys campus) it needs a building..

As computer and its understanding is the key of development that’s why we need computer labs for three campuses.

Institute has started graduate science classes since 2012 well equipped biology and chemistry labs are the needs of the day.

Shortage of furniture for higher classes is also a big problem facing my institute these days.

Most of the enrolled students of my college belong to poor families and come from far of places due to financial problems it is hard for them to maintain the fare besides they are also late from college and face lots of mental torture that’s why I wish we have our own college transport for the ease of college and community.

Besides these a big examination hall for collective exam, a library connected museum, recycling of waste including water,

and a notebook shop are the necessities of my institute.

    REFLECTION ON MAX WARBURG COURAGE

I think it’s very courageous story for us. I really impressed by it. It’s a story of a small boy who was full of hope, he has great wish to do something most important for his parents and his community.

He injured in his early life but he did not disappoint. Still he has great stamina to do something. Even he was in early stage of his life yet he had great aim in his mind to make his life very effective. Due to his great courage he met the challenge of his life very calmly. It’s really a thought provoking story.

    NON- SIBI
There are many such points in my life when I felt really comfort now I am going to discuss some of them first of all I want to say that I am an intelligent girl that’s why during my school days it was my habit to learn quickly and then give understanding to others even my upgrade fellows also feel pleasure and confident by asking me about difficult topics.
Moreover during Indian Firing in 1999 I helped and courage the women of my community. During earth quack in 2005 I was in Muzaffarabad University that’s time I also helped and encourage many people it’s very hard and memorable time for me.
After completion of my MSc studies in 2007 I return back in home and joined the READ foundation organization as a teacher but I was not only a teacher I worked there as a helping lady. Not only students but teachers also rely on me for many issues, as a teacher we collect funds for needy students and needy people of our community. I get monthly salary of 6 hours’ work but I spend almost 11 hours in my institute for poor students voluntarily.
     REFLECTIONOur visit to Washington DC

As during our stay in Plymouth we have heard much about the trip to Washington DC we were so excited about it but nobody can imagine how it will be? After visiting we have realized that it is above than our expectations. It’s indeed a great heritage. We visited many places there and all were fascinating. First of all I want to say that trolley tour was very interesting, informative and less time consuming. We enjoyed it much. The pleasuring thing for us is the opportunity of meeting at State department and with senior senator Jeanne Sheehan’s assistant and advisor. Our meeting was very wonderful with them. It’s great honor for us that we got certificate by state department.
Besides these many other places such as Natural history museum, Washington monument, Lincoln memorial, US capital, Vietnam soldiers, Jefferson memorial, Einstein statue, Pakistan embassy, voice of America, American history museum, state department, eye view of white house, kebab palace, crystal city underground, pentagon city, old post office and great iftar with Muslim community all were very informative, amazing and ever memorable places. We could never forget the hospitality of all the guided members and also anybody which met us during our stay in Washington DC and also in Plymouth State University.

This plan will obviously bring a positive behavioral change of students, college members and even community members.
As we know seeing is believing, so when students will see what is happening in specific area and what it needs for improvement.  They will understand how deforestation is adversely affecting global environmental issues during field trips and they will definitely understand their responsibilities.
By taking pictures during their work, sharing them with other staff members and community members I can increase the courage of my students to do more and to help the environment.
Moreover I would assess the success of my plan by evaluating students, teachers, parents, and landowner’s reflection.
Soon after some months I will take pictures of beautiful fragrant flowers and tasty fruits and will send you by email that will be the best result of my work INSHALLAH.
